Pottery Painting FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Simply Bisque is an all-inclusive studio. What does that mean for you? It means no studio fees and everything - the paint*, brushes, tools, glazing and firing – is included in the price of each piece. Best of all, we deliver the items to your home to complete your project. You can choose up to six colors and take as long as you want. Prices for bisque start as low as $10 plus tax. ($40 mininum purchase for delivery within a 10-mile radius. Or you can choose Pottery By Mail service. Call us for details.)

*Specialty paints are priced separately. Additional colors are available for a small fee.

Will my piece be food and dishwasher safe?

You bet! We only use lead-free, non-toxic glazes.

How long does it take to paint?

It depends on you! Most medium sized pieces take about an hour to paint but there is no time limit as you will paint in your own home at your own schedule!

Can I eat and drink while painting?

We recommend either eating before or after you paint. Grease from food can ruin the pottery--so make sure you have washed your hands with a non-moisturizing soap. Lotions can also ruin a piece, so wait until you are done painting before applying lotion to your hands.

How long until my piece will be finished?

Most pieces will be ready for delivery in about a week. During busy holiday seasons it may take a little longer.

I'm not artistic and have never painted before. Can I still do this?

Definitely! An art degree is not required! Simply Bisque has many design books, stamps, stencils, samples, and pictures to give you ideas and inspire you.
